(EN) From the moment I stepped out of Don Mueang Airport until now Thailand has taken me straight back to Brazil. The smells, lifestyle, people, landscapes... Everything. I lived in Fortaleza for almost two years - four years ago. I haven't come back since then. Being here constantly reminds me of how much I miss it and that this is the kind of places I fall for. People are always happy, the sun shines, it's summer all the time... And Thai are lovely in every way!
(PT) Desde o momento em que pus pé fora do Aeroporto de Dom Mueang até agora, a Tailândia leva-me direto ao Brasil. Os cheiros, estilo de vida, as pessoas, paisagens... Tudo. Vivi em Fortaleza durante quase dois anos - há quatro anos atrás. Desde então nunca mais lá voltei. Estar aqui é um lembrete constante das saudades que tenho desse país e dessas pessoas e faz-me aperceber que este é realmente o tipo de lugares pelos quais me apaixono. As pessoas estão sempre felizes, o sol brilha, é verão o ano todo... E os Tailandeses são basicamente amorosos!
(EN) There were specially 3 places I really wanted to photograph in Bangkok: Maeklong Train Market; Damnoen Saduak Floating Market & Wat Arun, the temple of dawn. I've been to all of them and each one is a different experience. In Maeklong you feel a bit claustrophobic - the road is narrow and with all the stands & awnings you only have space between the rails to go through! Now add some tourists and locals to the picture ;) But when the train passes you heart bumps a bit faster ♥️ (even more if you drop your sunglasses in between :D) Damnoen Saduak was funny. It is a nice ride along the river where you pass by dozens of stands - all with different colours, different faces, different products. The food ones are mostly on the move - with coconut water, fried chicken, fresh fruit, ice cream, pad thai (typical & awesome dish, you can find it in every corner), etc... Wat Arun is for me the most beautiful temple in the city. You may find hundreds of them in Southeast Asia but some you don't forget. This one I won't. There's also Wat Pho, the most famous one, where you pay 4 times more (Wat Arun is 50฿/1,40€ & this one is 200฿/5,55€) because you can see a 'giant' reclining Buddha. It is a nice one but the best for me were its surroundings :)
(PT) Tinha na minha lista 3 lugares que queria fotografar: o mercado do comboio de Maeklong, o mercado flutuante Damnoen Saduak & o templo do amanhecer, Wat Arun. Fui visitar todos e cada um é uma experiência nova. Em Maeklong sentes-te um bocado claustrofóbico - a rua já é estreita e com todas as bancas e os toldos só tens espaço para passar entre os trilhos. Agora adiciona alguns turistas e locais à imagem ;) Mas quando o comboio se aproxima o teu coração começa a bater um bocadinho mais depressa ♥️ (principalmente quando deixas cair os teus óculos de sol a meio :D) O Damnoen Saduak é engraçado, pagas 3€ para dar uma volta de barco pelo rio e passas por dezenas de banquinhas - todas com cores, caras e produtos diferentes. Normalmente os que vendem comida estão sempre em movimento - com água de côco, galinha frita, fruta fresca, gelado, pad thai (um prato ótimo tradicional que encontras em qualquer lugar), etc... Wat Arun é para mim o templo mais bonito da cidade. No Sudeste Asiático encontras centenas de templos mas há sempre aqueles que nunca te esqueces. Este é um desses. Também tens um dos mais famosos, Wat Pho, onde pagas 4 vezes mais (a entrada para o Wat Arun é 50฿/1,40€ & para este é 200฿/5,55€), porque tens um Buddha 'gigante' deitado. É giro mas para mim o melhor foram os jardins à sua volta :)
(EN) I arrived to my hostel at around 10pm. At first I thought I wouldn't do much because it was already late and I was a bit tired but when the bus dropped me off I realized I was staying right in the middle of Bangkok's crazy nightlife! :D I couldn't stop smiling! The heat, every single Thai person smiling and talking to you, happy tourists everywhere... My energy just came back! The moment I got into my bedroom (already thinking "I'll just leave my things there and go out again") I met a really nice Spanish couple - Sofie & José. We chatted for a while and I managed to change their minds and get them out as well :p It was their last night and it would be Sofie's birthday in one hour so I convinced them to go for a walk and a beer. Well... I've learnt that night that you'll never go out only for a beer in Bangkok :D It was almost 5am when we got back! We've walked around Khaosan road (the most famous due to the dozens of bars/pubs/clubs, each one trying to put their music louder), around Soi Rambuttri (the parallel road where we were staying, still full of bars but calmer) and we ended up meeting a bunch of people, from the Philippines to Italy, England and Russia. It was a great night, we laughed a lot, made loads of new friends and managed to make everybody around dancing 'Macarena' ;D [Let's say my first day in Bangkok wasn't very productive haha]
(PT) Cheguei ao hostel por volta das 22h. Primeiro pensei que não fosse fazer muito porque já era tarde e estava um pouco cansada da viagem mas depois o autocarro deixou-me bem no centro da noite louca de Bangkok! :D Não conseguia parar de sorrir! O calor, todos os Tailandeses por quem passas falam contigo, os turistas estão todos felizes... A minha energia voltou super rápido! Quando entrei no quarto conheci logo um casal Espanhol muito querido - a Sofie e o José. Conversámos sem parar até conseguir convencê-los a sair um pouco também :p Era a sua última noite e o aniversário da Sofia seria em menos de uma hora então consegui arrastá-los para uma voltinha e uma cerveja. Bom... Foi nessa noite que aprendi que nunca vais só "dar uma voltinha e beber uma cerveja" em Bangkok :D Eram 5h da manhã quando voltámos para casa! Andámos pela rua Khaosan (a mais famosa pelos inúmeros bares/pubs/discotecas, cada um a tentar pôr a sua música mais alto do que a do vizinho), pela Soi Rambuttri (a rua paralela onde estávamos hospedados, também com muitos bares mas mais calma) e acabámos por conhecer imensas pessoas, desde as Filipinas até Itália, Inglaterra e Rússia. Foi uma grande noite! Rimo-nos imenso, fizemos muitos amigos e conseguimos pôr toda a gente a dançar a "Macarena" ;D [Digamos que o meu primeiro dia em Bangkok não foi muito produtivo depois da primeira noite haha]
(EN) Some days later, after having German, Chinese, French and Italian people checking in and out, a guy from Israel, Shachar, became my roommate. He was my buddy for the next days and we also got Finn, from Germany, joining us. Have you ever watched "Hangover 2"? Well, it's filmed in the Thai capital and from the moment you arrive you have loads of people trying to sell you a "ping pong show" - which is basically girls showing their abilities in doing whatever they can with their... thingy! :D After some drinks we thought "why not? we are in Bangkok, we have to see this!". The best were the reactions of the drunk guys who were watching, they were amazed! ... But going there made me value my life even more. You see women from their early 20's to late 50's doing the same show for the 10th time on a night, many of them for years, - either opening coke bottles with it, writing on paper with it, taking meters of thread out of it, throwing ping pong balls to a jar... What broke my heart was this miserable look on their faces. Never again ;)
Well, in the end I really needed a "Bangkok" by now! After the harsh Russian & Mongolian winters and the not so sociable China I was more than happy to arrive in Thailand! I've just arrived to Vietnam but I'm already eager to come back to explore the Thai south! Thailand is definitely a must-go! ♥️

(PT) Uns dias mais tarde, depois de ter Alemães, Chineses, Franceses e Italianos a fazerem o check in e check out, conheci um novo colega de quarto vindo de Israel, o Shachar. Foi o meu companheiro nos dias seguintes e acabámos por adotar um outro Alemão de 19 anos, o Finn. Já alguma vez viste o "Ressaca 2"? É filmado na capital Tailandesa e desde o momento em que lá chegas tens imensas pessoas a vender os famosos "espetáculos de ping pong" - que consiste basicamente em mulheres a mostrar as suas habilidades enquanto fazem o que quer que seja com a sua... coisa! :D Depois de algumas bebidas pensámos "Porque não?! Estamos em Bangkok, temos de ver um espetáculo destes!". A melhor parte foi ver as reações da audiência embriagada que não conseguia acreditar no que estava a ver. Mas ir a este lugar só me fez dar mais valor à minha vida. Vês mulheres desde os 20 e poucos anos até aos 50 e muitos a fazer a mesma coisa pela décima vez nessa noite, algumas delas durante anos - ora abrem garrafas de coca-cola com ela ou escrevem num papel, ora tiram metros de fitas lá de dentro ou tentam encestar bolas de ping pong... O que me partiu o coração foi o olhar miserável que todas tinham. Nunca mais ;)
Concluindo... Precisava mesmo de um "Banguecoque" na minha viagem. Depois dos invernos agressivos da Rússia & Mongólia e dos Chineses não-tão-sociáveis senti-me nas nuvens quando cheguei à Tailândia! Estou agora no Vietname mas já estou ansiosa por voltar e explorar o sul Tailandês! A Tailândia é definitivamente um lugar que tens de visitar! ♥️
