(EN) Leaving Vietnam was tricky, of course :D I was supposed to take a 3 hour bus from Can Tho to Ho Chi Min and it ended up lasting 13 hours! So I basically missed my flight to Bangkok, "slept" at the airport and got another one in the morning... It was a long way to the islands! Full day trying to leave Vietnam and the day after traveling from the Thai capital to the south. I've spent some hours in Bangkok (still love that city!), bought more gorgeous and cheap dresses and started the 17 hour bus + ferry trip to Koh Samui, the biggest island in Chumphon Archipelago. I decided to skip Phuket and Phi Phi islands due to tourists, once again. Not because of the crowd but because it makes me really sad to see paradises turned into garbage spots... Unfortunately the excess of tourism tends to ruin places. So there I was, ready to explore 3 islands on the East coast - Koh Samui, Koh Tao and Koh Phangan :D
(PT) Sair do Vietname foi complicado, claro :D Apanhei um autocarro de Can Tho para Ho Chi Min que deveria durar 3 horas mas na realidade demorou 13h! Portanto perdi o meu avião para Banguecoque, "dormi" no aeroporto e voei na manhã seguinte... Foi uma viagem bastante longa até às ilhas! Um dia inteiro a tentar sair do Vietname e no dia seguinte mais umas boas horas da capital Tailandesa até ao sul. Passei essa tarde em Banguecoque (continuo a adorar esta cidade!), comprei mais uns vestidinhos fofos e baratos e comecei a viagem de autocarro + ferry de 17 horas para Koh Samui, a maior ilha do Arquipélago de Chumphon. Decidi cortar Phuket e as ilhas Phi Phi da rota por causa dos turistas - não por serem muitos, mas por saber que iria encontrar imenso lixo nas praias e isso deixa-me triste... Infelizmente o excesso de turismo tende a arruinar paraísos. Então lá estava eu, pronta a explorar 3 ilhas da costa Este - Koh Samui, Koh Tao e Koh Phangan. :D
KOH SAMUI
(EN) I'd met this really nice Spanish girl in the North of Thailand one month earlier, Micaela, and she recommended me a party hostel called Bodega. I felt I needed some party time so I followed her advice ;D It was a good decision! My roomies were super cool - 4 British girls and one German guy. Every night there was something different going on in the program so on the first one we had a beer pong contest and on the next one a bar crawl! I've met so many people in this place! Swedish, Canadian, Danish & lots of British! On my last day we rented a motorbike and went on a loop around the island - that was pretty cool! We checked out the Big Buddha, explored the forest while chasing a waterfall and watched the most wonderful sunset ever! Koh Samui was the first paradisiac island I've ever been to and it was very beautiful indeed but every day I was taking two full bags of plastic out of the beach... That made it go down to the third place on my 'Archipelago ranking' ;)
(PT) No norte da Tailândia conheci uma rapariga Espanhola super querida, Micaela, que me recomendou ficar num hostel chamado Bodega porque tinha imensas festas. Senti que estava a precisar disso então segui o conselho ;D Foi uma boa decisão! Os meus colegas de quarto eram muito engraçados - 4 raparigas Britânicas e um Alemão. Todas as noites haviam festas diferentes no programa, na primeira tivemos competição de Beer Pong e na segunda um Bar Crawl! Conheci tantas pessoas neste lugar! Suecos, Canadianos, Dinamarqueses & imensos Ingleses! No meu último dia alugámos uma mota e fizemos a volta à ilha - lindo! Visitámos o Grande Buddha, explorámos a selva à procura de uma cascata meia escondida e vimos o melhor pôr do sol de sempre! Koh Samui foi a primeira ilha paradisíaca onde estive e claro que é super bonita, mas todos os dias recolhi dois sacos cheios de plástico das praias... Isso foi o que fez esta ilha ficar em terceiro lugar nos 'classificados' deste arquipélago ;)
KOH TAO
(EN) Everybody in Koh Samui was talking about going to this really famous Full Moon Party in the neighbouring island so I decided to join the crowd and went first to the smallest one, Koh Tao, so I could get the full moon night in Koh Phangan. Oh, Koh Tao... For sure a future home. As you'll realize by the pictures it was a underwater experience for me. Unlike my first stop, this is the most environment friendly place ever. The waters are so so clear and everything around you is about snorkeling and diving! It was there that I had my first snorkeling experience and I fell in love with it! Although I found out I get really seasick (nothing that some magical pills can't solve ;D) I had a blast! It was one of the best days of this trip! All the colourful fish and corals, all the underwater life amazed me. ♥ On my second night I joined the village's Pub Crawl (128 of us!) and I met some more great people from Germany and England! One of the stops was in a Ladyboy cabaret (they are super famous around Thailand!) and we had so much fun!! Koh Tao is a small and chilled island. A lot of tourists still but the vibe is different, good energies everywhere. I'm looking forward to go back and to spend some months there!
(PT) Todas as pessoas que conheci em Koh Samui falavam da famosa Festa da Lua Cheia na ilha vizinha então decidi juntar-me à multidão e fui primeiro à ilha mais pequena, Koh Tao, para que pudesse apanhar a lua cheia em Koh Phangan. Ahh, Koh Tao... Com certeza um futuro lar para mim. Como te vais aperceber pelas fotografias, foi uma experiência em baixo de água. Ao contrário da primeira paragem, esta é a ilha mais amiga do ambiente por onde estive. As águas são tão limpas que tudo se baseia em mergulho! Foi lá que fiz snorkeling pela primeira vez e fiquei apaixonada! Apesar de descobrir que fico bastante enjoada em longas viagens de barco (nada que uns comprimidos mágicos não resolvam ;D) tive um dia maravilhoso! Foi sem dúvida um dos melhores desta jornada! Os peixes coloridos e corais magníficos, toda a vida aquática me deixou de boca aberta. ♥ Na segunda noite inscrevi-me no Pub Crawl da ilha (éramos 128!) e conheci mais umas quantas pessoas lindas da Alemanha e Inglaterra! Uma das paragens era num cabaret de Travesties (super famosos pela Tailândia fora) e divertimo-nos imenso!! Koh Tao é uma ilha pequena e tranquila. Também tem algum turismo mas a história é diferente, só há boas energias. Estou ansiosa por voltar e ficar por uns quantos meses!
KOH PHANGAN
(EN) You see, this was the first time of my life I had this kind of trip - only party and beach. I can't complain because I had great nights, met amazing people and saw wonderful places but it's not my kind of travel ;) I like to explore, to run around, to get busy! On the second day in Koh Samui I already felt a bit useless/bored and this feeling manifested itself some more times throughout these days! Koh Phangan was literally party and beach mode! I stayed in Haad Rin, the neighbourhood where the party was going to happen the next day and I didn't get out of there at all! Well, I can say I met some really nice people who made it interesting to stick around! I spent my first day with Sunny, a Swedish girl I'd met in Koh Samui. We wandered around a bit and ended up going to the Sunset Beach (where the sunset didn't disappoint at all). On that night we met 3 more guys, all of them French speakers but each one from a different country - France, Switzerland and Belgium. It was an easy-going night by the beach before the big crazy one! The Full Moon Party is getting more and more famous and since the island gets crowded once in a month they decide to get us 4 nights in a row of parties! So the night before you could go to the Jungle Experience, then Full Moon Party, then the After Full Moon Party and at last a Waterfall Party! Gosh. I don't know how they think we can handle all of this :D The next morning I met two of my roommates, Clenford from Canada/Philippines and Julian from Germany (yeah, I think at least 50% of Germany is in Southeast Asia right now!) - they became my party/beach buddies for those two days! We went for breakfast together, then explored a bit around the Sunrise beach and got ready for the night! Ibo and Marius, two more funny Germans, joined us as well.
(PT) Esta foi a primeira vez na vida que tive este tipo de férias - festa e praia. Claro que não posso reclamar porque tive noites maravilhosas, conheci pessoas lindas e vi lugares surpreendentes, mas não é de todo o meu tipo de viagem ;) Gosto de explorar, de correr de um lado para o outro, de me manter ocupada! No segundo dia em Koh Samui já me estava a sentir um bocado inútil/aborrecida e este sentimento acabou por se manifestar mais vezes durantes os dias seguintes! Koh Phangan foi literalmente só festa e praia! Fiquei em Haad Rin, a área onde a festa iria decorrer no dia seguinte e não saí de todo de lá! Posso dizer que conheci pessoas muito queridas que fizeram valer a pena a "procrastinação"! O meu primeiro dia foi passado com a Sunny, uma Sueca que tinha conhecido na primeira ilha. Demos uma volta pelo centro e acabámos o dia na Praia do Pôr do Sol (que não desiludiu de todo). Nessa noite conheci mais 3 rapazes, todos falavam Francês mas cada um era de um país diferente - França, Suíça e Bélgica. Foi um noite calma à beira-mar antes da noite louca! A Festa da Lua Cheia está cada vez mais famosa e como a ilha fica cheia de gente uma vez por mês, decidiram organizar festas durante 4 noites seguidas! Na noite anterior tens uma Experiência na Selva, depois a Festa da Lua Cheia seguida pela Festa Depois da Lua Cheia e finalmente a Festa da Cascata! Minha nossa! Não sei como acham que conseguimos sobreviver a tudo isto! :D Na manhã seguinte conheci dois dos meus colegas de quarto, o Clenford do Canadá e o Julian da Alemanha (sim, acho que pelo menos 50% da Alemanha está pelo Sudeste Asiático!) - e tornaram-se os meus companheiros de festa/praia durante esses dois dias! Fomos tomar o pequeno almoço juntos, explorámos os arredores da Praia do Nascer do Sol e preparámo-nos para a grande noite! O Ibo e o Marius, mais dois Alemães muito engraçados, também se juntaram a nós.
(EN) Although I got robbed by pickpockets twice (how did I do that, right? :D) the party was great! Everybody had neon paintings and clothes which give an even better effect when you have hundreds of people around! At 9.30am I still tried to find some of my belongings at the beach but the only thing I could see was some pretty drunk people wandering/sleeping around! haha
All in all I'll take Chumphon Archipelago in my heart and I'm certainly going back there one day! ♥

(PT) Apesar de ter sido roubada duas vezes por carteiristas (como é que isso aconteceu?!, perguntam vocês. Pois não sei :D) - a festa foi ótima! Toda a gente estava a usar roupas e pinturas que brilham no escuro então o efeito era lindo quando centenas de pessoas se juntavam! Às 9h30 da manhã ainda tentei procurar os meus pertences mas a única coisa que encontrei foi pessoal completamente embriagado a arrastar-se ou a dormir! haha
Concluindo… Levo o Arquipélago de Chumphon no coração e quero com certeza voltar um dia! ♥
